The Vargas Panties hug the body, with between negative 3-1/2 inches to 0 inches (-9 to 0 cm) of ease at the waist and several inches of negative ease in the hips. You can adjust the fit of the waist and leg openings by cutting the elastic shorter or longer, depending on your fit preference.

Recommended Fabrics

Lingerie requires specialty fabrics and elastics.

For the back panel of the panties, we recommend: lingerie mesh, power mesh (not power net), stretch lace, or a stretch knit like jersey as the main fabric. You’ll want 4-way stretch fabric with at least 50% stretch in one direction. You may use a fabric with more or less stretch, but you may need to adjust the fit of the pattern (stretchier fabrics will result in a looser fit and vice versa).

For the front panel and its lining, use a stable woven with or without a sheer overlay. We recommend cottons like broadcloth, sateen, or lawn; nylon or synthetic duoplex; silk or synthetic satin or charmeuse.

For a sheer overlay, we recommend: tulle, lace, or mesh.

If you wish to use a stretch knit for the front panel overlay, you must line or underline it with a stable woven. Any of the stable wovens recommended above may be used for lining or underlining, but we suggest something that will be soft against your skin.

Use a cotton or other natural fiber jersey for the crotch lining.

No one at Charm was brave enough to model their panties on the internet, but there are a number of wonderfully generous people on Instagram who have modeled the Vargas Panties! The pattern has even been used as a swimsuit bottoms and pole dancing outfits, so please check them out!

Measure yourself around your upper bust (under your armpits and above your breasts, without a bra on), the fullest part of your bust (while wearing your preferred bra), the smallest part of your waist, and the fullest part of your hips (this is likely around the fullest part of your butt). Make sure to hold the measuring tape snugly and parallel to the ground. Compare your body measurements to the size chart.

Find your upper bust measurement on the size chart to find your garment size, and then scan down the cup sizes in that garment size column to find your cup size. For instance, a 37-inch upper bust will make you a size 10, and a 39-inch full bust means you need a B cup. Don’t worry if your waist doesn’t match the size 10 column’s measurement of 32 inches; you can grade the waist in or out as needed. It is most important to choose a size to fit your upper bust and cup size, as the waist is easier to adjust up or down.

Sewing pattern sizes are very different from ready-to-wear garments and bra sizes, so be sure to work with your measurements when choosing a size.

Charm’s 2-20 size range is designed for a body with an hourglass shape. Our 18-34 size range is designed for a body with less waist definition.
